Included in this chapter are some network tools which
pre-date the WWW but which have not entirely succumbed to its all-enveloping embrace.
Though the humble text interface of gopher services has been totally eclipsed
by the graphical Web, nevertheless quite a few services whose information is not
duplicated elsewhere remain online.The ftp and gopher protocols are both recognised
by the WWW protocol so resources of these types can be accessed from a WWW browser.
